Republican Faith Ryan Whittlesey was named Ambassador to Switzerland by President Reagan after serving as Delaware County Commissioner and being defeated for Lieutenant Governor. I kind of doubt that any Republican activists were quoted then as blasting that appointment.

Joe Hoeffel has the personality, knowledge base, and work ethic to make an deputy secretary of the Department of Community and Economic Development.

Hoeffel has always been interested in both both foreign affairs and growing Pennsylvania's economy, and his new job assignment will give him an excellent opportunity to pursue both interests to the public's benefit.
