Megaphone Man II

It's not equal time, exactly, but as I mentioned in Megaphone Man (see below), I want to use this blog to air the opinions of people who take issue with what I write.

Recently, I did two pieces on special legislation sponsored by House Speaker John Perzel to forbid people in New Jersey from complaining about loud noise that emanates from the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River.

I did one piece on April 16th. The second on April 23rd.

Here is a Perzel letter taking issue with my taking issue with his bill.

It may be printed in the paper, but hasn't yet.

Mr. Perzel is just doing what he has always done...service one of his contributors.

Special (lobbyists, etc.) interest groups can and always have been able to BUY what they need.

CURE; A nrw Reformed constitution with Initiative & Recall.
Term linits. Perzel's interest is strictly money. No money , no favors!

As the old adage goes, "The burden of proof lies on the accuser." Meaning that if the folks in New Jersey complaining about alleged noise coming from Glen Foerd can provide proof of this, and it trumps Glen Foerd's proof to the contrary, then it's upon Glen Foerd to clean up its act and Perzel not to interfere. What Perzel doesn't get is that this stretch of the Delaware River is heavily suburban to both sides and with Northeast Philadelphia needing to become moreso in this regard, not less. Perzel's politics belongs to a different era, they're too much of a throwback to when efforts were underway to make this part of the city more citylike. That was tried, it failed, and now it's time to move on, and John Perzel likewise.
